Samuel Boston, a convicted murderer serving a life sentence for second-degree murder in Custer County, South Dakota, has passed away at a Sioux Falls hospital.
The South Dakota Department of Corrections Administration Office confirmed his death on July 29.
Boston was convicted for the murder of Richard Gitter, whose body was found unclothed and not breathing in Boston’s bathtub in March 2001.
Boston’s explanation of the injuries on Gitter’s body varied, and evidence, including pictures of Gitter and the cause of death being strangulation, led to his conviction for second-degree felony murder on May 5, 2002.
The press release announcing Boston’s death did not disclose the cause of death or the hospital where he passed away.
