Dakota Wesleyan University is hosting a public event to bless and present The Saint John’s Bible, a handwritten and hand-illuminated work of art and theology gifted to the university.
Commissioned in 1998 by Saint John’s Abbey and University, this monumental piece blends ancient calligraphy and illumination with Benedictine spiritual principles.
Crafted by artists under the guidance of Donald Jackson in Wales and scholars in Minnesota, the Bible is both a religious and artistic masterpiece.
The seven-volume Heritage Edition will be housed in DWU’s McGovern Library, making it the only public collection in the Dakotas.
The presentation will take place on October 9 at 3:30 p.m. in the Sherman Center on campus.
