According to the Department of Public Safety, a fatal farm implement accident occurred five miles northeast of Langford, S.D., on Friday afternoon.
The incident involved a 21-year-old female operating a field sprayer and a parked Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck and trailer on a minimum maintenance road.
The boom of the sprayer made contact with the parked semi-trailer and then struck a 45-year-old male who was standing next to it. Sadly, the male was pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital. The female operator of the sprayer did not sustain any injuries.
The names of the individuals involved have not been disclosed pending notification of their families. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash.
