A 34-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman from Webster have been charged following a weekend crash in Brookings.
The incident occurred after authorities responded to a traffic complaint on Interstate 29.
The man, identified as Chancellor Eagle, was driving a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer at high speed, weaving between lanes, and almost hitting a bridge. He failed to stop for a red light and collided with a Honda Fit. Eagle was ejected from the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended. He faces charges including DUI, Aggravated Eluding, and Reckless Driving.
The woman, Peyton Sharpfish, was also arrested for providing false information to law enforcement. Thankfully, the occupants of the Honda Fit were uninjured.
Damage from the crash is estimated at $36,160, and the incident remains under investigation by the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
