In 1974, 25-year-old Ellabeth Mae Lodermeier, an Aberdeen native and Augustana College graduate, was reported missing by her estranged husband. Fifty years later, the Sioux Falls Police Department is still searching for her.
She was last seen by her estranged husband at her Sioux Falls home, three weeks before their divorce trial was to begin.
Despite several breakthroughs, including the discovery of her credit cards in Canada and her wallet along a riverbank, her whereabouts remain unknown.
Her estranged husband, who was abusive, is considered a person of interest but was never convicted in her disappearance.
The police continue to seek information and urge anyone with information to come forward.
