EmBe, a nonprofit organization that provides childcare and other services to children and families in Mitchell, announced that it will close its childcare center on June 30.
The center, which is licensed to serve 44 students, currently provides care for 31 children. It employs nine teachers.
EmBe said that it will continue to partner with the Mitchell School District to offer its program for school-aged care during the 2023-24 school year. The organization’s Girls on the Run program will also continue.
The organization cited challenges like the rising cost of care and labor shortages as factors that contributed to the decision to close.
