Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in the Black Hills is inviting proposals for unique experiments that can only be conducted in a deep-underground lab.
With its unique attributes and the deepest lab of its kind in America, SURF offers a mile of rock above, screening out cosmic-ray neutrons and enabling studies ranging from extreme biology to physics probing the fabric of the universe.
The facility is seeking proposals from a wide range of fields, including physics, biology, geology, and engineering, with the goal of expanding our understanding of underground life and conducting groundbreaking physics research such as neutrino and dark matter searches.
The SURF Science Program Advisory Committee will review proposals to select projects best suited for the facility.
