Fatal Collision Between Tractor and Car Claims One Life and Leaves Another Injured near Beresford, South Dakota

A fatal collision occurred near Beresford, S.D., resulting in the death of one individual and serious injuries to another on Friday afternoon.

The incident involved a car and a tractor.

The tractor, a 2023 John Deere model pulling a silage trailer, was headed east on 288th Street on Friday afternoon. Upon entering the intersection of 472nd Avenue, it collided with a 2006 Buick Lacrosse.

The collision caused the Buick to catch fire and come to a stop east of the intersection, while the tractor rolled over and became disconnected from its trailer.

The driver of the Buick, a 74-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 26-year-old tractor driver was ejected during the rollover and suffered significant but non-life-threatening injuries.

Names of those involved haven’t been disclosed, and the investigation is being conducted by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
