The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a tragic crash in Milbank that occurred on a Saturday afternoon.
A 2004 GMC Yukon XL traveling north on 5th Street South in Milbank veered onto the curb at the East Park Avenue intersection, continued through the intersection at high speed, and collided with a tree in a front yard on the west side of the road.
The 34-year-old male driver sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Milbank Avera Hospital by ambulance.
The 28-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and was not wearing a seatbelt.
