A tragic head-on collision occurred on Interstate 90, approximately 18 miles west of Kadoka, resulting in one fatality and two injuries.
The crash involved a 2020 Hyundai Elantra traveling in the wrong direction on the eastbound lanes, colliding with a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country.
The 31-year-old male driver of the Elantra, who was wearing a seatbelt, died in the accident.
The 24-year-old male driver of the Chrysler Town and Country sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Philip Hospital, while the 22-year-old passenger of the Town and Country was transported to a Rapid City hospital.
Both occupants of the Chrysler were wearing seatbelts.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident, and names are being withheld until family notification is completed.
