A tragic two-vehicle collision on August 24 led to the death of a 44-year-old woman from Avon, identified as Teresa Brandt.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 81, approximately three miles north of Yankton.
Brandt was driving a 2014 Ford Escape that rear-ended a 2005 Peterbilt semi tractor-trailer.
The crash transpired at 9:53 a.m. as the semi was decelerating to make a turn into a parking lot.
Bret Archuleta, the 36-year-old driver of the semi, emerged uninjured due to his seatbelt use.
