A tragic two-vehicle crash Friday near Dell Rapids resulted in one fatality.
According to initial reports, a 2020 Peterbilt semi-truck was heading south on 474th Avenue and 242nd Street, while a Ford F-150 pickup was traveling north and crossed the center line into the southbound lane, leading to a collision with the semi.
Both vehicles caught fire after the impact.
The 47-year-old male driver of the Peterbilt sustained minor injuries and managed to exit the vehicle.
The driver of the pickup, whose identity remains undisclosed, died away at the scene.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the incident, and all released information is subject to further updates.
