Tragedy struck Elkton, SD, as a fiery collision between a car and a train claimed the lives of two individuals on a Friday night.

The incident occurred when a southbound 2011 Kia Sorrento crashed through the railroad warning arm at a train crossing, colliding with a passing train on SD Highway 13.

The collision resulted in a fire engulfing the car, leaving its occupants trapped.

The train also derailed and crashed into a grain elevator.

The victims, both occupants of the car, were pronounced dead at the scene.
