On Monday, September 4th, a tragic fire incident occurred in Huron, resulting in the loss of one firefighter’s life.
The fire took place at the Hurd Alignment & Service building on Old Highway 14 W., with black smoke visible for hours.
The challenging circumstances included near-100-degree temperatures.
Multiple agencies, including the Huron Fire Department, responded to the scene, alongside other emergency services and law enforcement.
The identity of the firefighter has not been disclosed out of respect for their family’s notification process.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and occurred shortly after the state fair’s conclusion on that day.
