FLANDREAU, S.D. – A rough start to the school year in the Flandreau Public School District following two bomb threats Tuesday.
The Moody County Sheriff’s Office said on social media that a threat was called into the school just after 9 a.m., and the school was immediately put on lock down, forcing the high school, middle school and elementary school to evacuate.
Then just before 2:30 pm Tuesday afternoon, the school announced it had received a bomb threat for a second time. The building was searched, but nothing threatening was found.
Moody County Sheriff Troy Wellman.
Wellman says agencies involved in investigating the bomb threats include his office along with Flandreau police, Flandreau tribal police, Highway Patrol, Game, Fish and Parks, Madison police and Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
