Charlie Adelson, serving a life sentence for orchestrating the 2014 murder of Florida State law professor Dan Markel, has been relocated to South Dakota, over 1,800 miles from the crime scene.
Records from the Florida Department of Corrections indicate Adelson is now incarcerated in an unspecified facility in South Dakota.
Adelson’s transfer occurred on Thursday, according to an alert from the Florida Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) system.
The 47-year-old former periodontist was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and solicitation last November after an eight-day trial in Leon County.
He filed an appeal late last year. Previously held at the Wakulla Correctional Institution Annex and later the Columbia Correctional Institution Annex, Adelson’s transfer details have not been disclosed by the Florida Department of Corrections.
