In response to the diminishing number of undiscovered places due to modern information sharing, Travel South Dakota, an arm of the state Department of Tourism, is launching the “Forever 605” campaign.
The initiative aims to encourage visitors and South Dakotans to pledge to travel respectfully, protect the state’s waterways, trails, and natural beauty, and seek experiences beyond overcrowded destinations.
By taking the pledge, participants will receive a Forever 605 sticker and a chance to win additional prizes.
The campaign also offers resources and webinars for businesses and organizations involved in tourism to promote responsible practices, such as preserving cultural integrity, respecting wildlife, and staying on designated trails.
