Former KELO-TV Anchor Doug Lund Passes Away at Age 78

Doug Lund, a beloved anchor and reporter at KELOLAND Television, passed away on Tuesday, May 22 at the age of 78.

Lund had a remarkable 32-year career at KELO-TV, starting as a commercial announcer in 1974 and joining the news team in 1975. He co-anchored the 10 PM and 6 PM newscasts with Steve Hemmingson until 2002, after which he moved to the 5 PM newscast.

Lund received the prestigious Tom Brokaw Award in 2006.

Although he officially retired in 2006, he continued to contribute as a part-time voiceover artist until 2023, when health issues forced him into a second retirement. Lund’s voice resonated with viewers, and he cherished his job at the local television station.

Lund’s feature stories, known as Lund at Large, were widely appreciated by the audience. His dedication, journalism skills, and loyalty as a friend and coworker left an indelible mark on the industry.
