Former Superintendent Swigart Sues Rapid City Schools Over Dismissal and Pay Disparities

Nicole Swigart, the former superintendent of the Rapid City Area School District, has filed a lawsuit against the district following her dismissal after a discrimination investigation.

The lawsuit alleges pay disparities and unlawful termination, stemming from controversial comments attributed to her about indigenous communities.

Swigart denies making the statements, claiming they oppose her personal beliefs and career as an educator. She also contends that her suspension, which led to her firing, was not conducted according to required procedures.

The school district has denied any wrongdoing and stated that they will address the matter in court.
