ALEXANDRIA, S.D. – A 52-year-old man died Wednesday in a one-vehicle crash east of Alexandria.
Names of the two people involved have not yet been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2001 Ford Excursion was eastbound on Interstate 90 when the driver lost control on the icy roadway. The vehicle went off the ditch and rolled multiple times.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to a Mitchell hospital where he later died.
A 51-year-old female passenger was not injured. She was wearing a seatbelt.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
