Harrisburg Women Dies in Crash North of Canton

Lincoln County, S.D.- A Harrisburg woman died in a two-vehicle crash early Friday afternoon, approximately six miles north of Canton.

The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family members.

According to preliminary crash reports, a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling northbound on 480th Avenue when it entered the intersection at 276th Street and collided with a westbound 2014 Chevrolet Malibu. The impact sent both vehicles into the northwest ditch, where the Suburban rolled onto its driver’s side.

A passenger in the Suburban was ejected during the crash and passed away from her injuries. The driver of the Suburban sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Malibu suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
