The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office has announced an amendment to the charges against Hartford chiropractor Joel Martens.
The count of Rape in the Fourth Degree has been removed, and he is now facing multiple counts of Sexual Contact with a Child Under 18 by a Person of Authority, Possession of Child Pornography, and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
The amendment comes after new information from the investigation clarified the victim’s age during the first sexual contact.
Martens, who often worked with student-athletes in the area, was arrested on Monday evening.
