HURON, S.D. — A Huron boy has died following a Halloween night shooting in southwest Huron. According to the Huron Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting Friday evening and found a juvenile male inside a residence with a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, the boy later died at the hospital.
A second juvenile male has been identified as a suspect and taken into custody, according to police. The suspect was transported to the Beadle County Juvenile Detention Center. Authorities said no further details will be released due to the involvement of juveniles.
The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Beadle County Sheriff’s Office, and Huron Ambulance assisted in the investigation.
