The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is examining an officer-involved shooting in Sturgis.
Taking place on Junction Avenue near the I-90 Exit 32 interchange, the incident led to one person’s injury, with limited information available currently.
Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vanderwater assured the public that there is no ongoing safety threat.
The Attorney General’s Office is seeking any visual evidence of the incident from the public.
Collaborating with state, local, and federal law enforcement, the DCI is working alongside the Highway Patrol in its investigation.
A comprehensive case report is expected to be prepared by the DCI for Attorney General review within 30 days.
