Authorities in Sioux Falls are investigating the death of 35-year-old Cassandra Shields, whose body was found Sunday night on Madison Street.
The cause of death is believed to be exposure to extreme cold, with temperatures dropping as low as 3-below zero and wind chills reaching minus 14.
The area where Shields was found is remote, closed to through traffic due to construction, raising questions about how she ended up there.
Police are seeking information from the public to understand the events leading up to her death.
