On June 26, 2024, the Lead Police Department began investigating the death of a 37-year-old male resident. Police and EMS responded to his residence and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The next day, on June 27, Lead Police and EMS were called to assist a 44-year-old male resident at a different location. It was discovered that this individual had been present at the June 26 incident, and he was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lead Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, and Lawrence County Coroner’s Office are jointly investigating these incidents.
