Lewis & Clark expanding to 60 million gallons a day

As the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System works to connect the final towns to the project, they are also working to upsize their water treatment plant.

The water plant, north of Vermillion, will be expanded from forty-four million gallons a day to sixty million gallons a day.

Executive Director Troy Larson says that’s probably not big enough.

Larson says they expect to see rapid growth in many of their communities and that they had to make their best estimates years ago.

Larson says they probably should have planned for the ability to treat around 100 million gallons a day.
