19-year-old Ethan Gillette of Louisiana is in custody at Minnehaha County jail, accused of killing a puppy.
Prosecutors claim he was caught on camera beating and strangling the young dog, and Gillette allegedly admitted to investigators that he knew he was using excessive force.
In court, the judge declared him a danger to the community and set a cash-only bond at $2,500.
