Declan Nelson, a 20-year-old man from Madison, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the first-degree rape of a six-year-old boy.
He confessed to committing the crime in a Madison park in 2021.
In addition to the prison sentence, Nelson has been ordered to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation and pay restitution to the victim’s family.
The case was investigated by the Madison Police Department and prosecuted by the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office.
