33-year-old Joseph Bendel has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of 34-year-old Douglas Lindberg Jr.
The incident occurred in rural Grant County in northeast South Dakota, with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responding to an assault on Sunday evening.
Lindberg Jr. was found injured and later died in a hospital.
Bendel, who also had multiple outstanding warrants, was apprehended and is being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond at the Grant County Detention Center.
