25-year-old Ryan Painter was sentenced by a Pennington County judge to a 15-year suspended prison sentence, a six-month suspended jail sentence, and 12 years of probation for statutory rape.
Despite not receiving a prison term, Judge Stacy Wickre cautioned Painter about the challenges ahead.
The charges stemmed from an incident in February 2021, and Painter had initially faced a fourth-degree rape charge.
He later pleaded guilty to the charge on August 7, with the plea deal involving admission to the rape charge and pleading guilty to a reduced petty theft charge related to a separate incident.
The reduced charge carried a lesser sentence compared to the original grand theft charge he faced.
