Mitchell Animal Rescue TNR offers free spay and neuter assistance for community cats

MITCHELL, S.D. – Mitchell Animal Rescue’s Trap-Neuter-Return program is offering assistance to residents caring for stray, feral or community cats in Mitchell.

The program provides pre-approved numbers for free spay and neuter services at Creekside Veterinary Clinic and can loan traps to residents who need them.

The organization says about 1,500 cats have gone through the program, which aims to control the community cat population and reduce feral cat intake and euthanasia at the Mitchell City Pound.

Residents who feed or harbor community cats are responsible for preventing the population from growing, according to the program. For assistance, call 605-359-3097.
