The Mitchell City Council approved a $583,000 bid from Whiskeyboard Construction during its meeting Money night for a wetlands project along Firesteel Creek to reduce phosphorus and sediment runoff into Lake Mitchell.
There will be a 37-acre wetland on the Kelley property with construction scheduled to begin in August 2024, and be completed by November 2024.
Here’s Mitchell May Bob Everson.
Firesteel Creek contributes a significant amount of phosphorus and sediment to the lake, with 53% coming from the creek and 47% from the lake itself.
