Last week’s overwhelming approval by Mitchell voters of a $17 million bond issue for a new athletics facility allowed the Mitchell School Board on Monday to approve the remaining alternate bids that were held on the new high school project.
Mitchell superintendent Joe Childs said that they will rebid a handful of the upcoming construction projects.
“What this means, essentially, is that there should be no delays in the project,” according to Childs. “Work will continue as planned. Excavation will continue to dig and pour footings as we move forward with the project.”
If all goes well, the new Mitchell High School should be completed in early 2025. Students and teachers would then start classes in the fall of 2025. The same applies to the athletic facilities.
The next Mitchell School Board meeting is June 26.
