South Dakota’s corn crop is holding on, but rain is still needed.
Bridgewater area farmer Jason Hofer is grateful for the rain that came over the 4th of July weekend.
It’s the second dry year in a row for many farmers east and south of Mitchell. At the same time, other areas are a bit soggy.
Hofer says one of the great unknowns right now is how much damage the hot, dry weather of June did to the corn crop.
