South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem’s chief of staff, Mark Miller, is leaving the governor’s office after serving for two years. Miller is returning to Florida, where he has accepted a position with a nonprofit.
Miller’s departure is the fifth time Noem has had a chief of staff leave her office since she took office in 2019. Noem has not yet announced a replacement for Miller.
Miller was Noem’s general counsel before being named chief of staff in 2021. He was a key player in Noem’s administration, and he was involved in a number of high-profile issues, including abortion and education.
