25-year-old Samir Yasser Albaidhani of Sioux Falls has been charged with attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer and multiple other charges following a Tuesday officer-involved shooting.
Albaidhani allegedly fired at officers after a Violent Crimes Unit attempt to arrest him for parole violations.
He fled the scene, exchanging gunfire with a South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper before being apprehended on I-29 near Beresford.
The injured officer is recovering from non-life-threatening wounds.
Albaidhani’s condition remains unclear, and court documents in the case are sealed until his first appearance.
