Operation Prairie Thunder Conducts 13th Enforcement Operation in Mitchell

Operation Prairie Thunder continued its community-based enforcement efforts last week with its 13th saturation patrol operation in Mitchell.

The operation, conducted April 30 and May 1, brought together the South Dakota Highway Patrol and local, county and federal law enforcement agencies for coordinated patrols focused on public safety and interagency cooperation.

During the two-day operation, officers took 11 individuals into custody, including six people arrested on drug-related charges. Authorities also reported 19 total drug charges, including four felony drug charges and 15 misdemeanor drug charges.

Participating agencies also served two felony warrants and one probation-related absconder warrant.

Operation: Prairie Thunder allows participating agencies to share personnel and resources while supporting enforcement and community safety efforts across South Dakota.
