Pierre Man Pleads Not Guilty in Stabbing Death Case of Rapid City Teen

David Shangreaux Jr., a Pierre man, has pleaded not guilty to charges of First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder, and Aggravated Assault in connection to the stabbing death of 17-year-old Evie Maxey.

The incident occurred in a Pierre apartment on Nov. 30.

Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty, and Shangreaux is requesting a jury trial.

A non-evidentiary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 29, with no trial date set yet.

Shangreaux is currently held at Hughes County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
