Prompt Response Averts Disaster: Vermillion Firefighters Extinguish Accidental House Fire

On a Friday morning, the Vermillion Fire EMS Department swiftly responded to an activated smoke detector at a one-story building on West Broadway Street in Vermillion.

All occupants had safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported upon arrival.

Personnel discovered an odor of smoke and utilized thermal cameras to locate and extinguish the fire, which was found in the attic and bedroom.

Though the fire was accidental, the exact cause remains under investigation.

Various departments, including Vermillion Police, Light and Power, Code of Enforcement, and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, collaborated in managing the situation on-site.
