Rapid City man arrested for second-degree murder in stabbing

A 20-year-old man from Rapid City has been arrested on charges of second-degree murder after a stabbing incident that occurred on Saturday night on Highway 16 near Keystone.

The suspect, Caesar Angelo Duran, allegedly stabbed 19-year-old Tyler LaForge following an argument at approximately 10:45 p.m.

According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place when a Jeep Cherokee carrying four individuals pulled over along Highway 16 near Twin Springs Road. Following the altercation, during which the two males involved argued, LaForge was stabbed.

LaForge managed to get back into the vehicle, and the group promptly called 911 while en route to the hospital.

Law enforcement officers intercepted the vehicle and immediately initiated CPR. Despite the swift response, LaForge succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.

Duran is currently in custody at the Pennington County Jail.
