Rapid City Woman Dies from Head Trauma, Investigation Leads to Manslaughter Arrest

A Rapid City woman, admitted to the emergency room with head trauma on Nov. 9, succumbed to her injuries.

Police responded to a call at 353 Fairmont Blvd. reporting suspicious injuries to a woman from 520 E. North Street.

The unconscious victim, displaying head and face bruising, was later pronounced dead. An autopsy on Nov. 13 revealed significant blunt-force trauma.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Pedro Simental, 44, a resident of 520 E. North Street, on charges of first-degree manslaughter.

Simental has been transported to Pennington County Jail, and the circumstances surrounding the incident are still under scrutiny.
