The proposed merger between Sanford Health and Fairview Health, which aimed to create a consolidated health network, has been abandoned.
Sanford Health’s CEO, Bill Gassen, cited a lack of support from certain stakeholders in Minnesota, namely the University of Minnesota system and the state Attorney General, as the primary reason for the decision.
This marks the second unsuccessful attempt at merging the two health systems, with both sides facing major obstacles throughout the process.
Despite the setback, Sanford Health remains committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to patients in both rural and urban areas.
