Minnehaha County received only one application for a medical marijuana dispensary license during the recent application period, with Shangri-La LLC of Brandon submitting the proposal.
The locally-owned company, in partnership with a national firm, is set to undergo a 60-day review process by the county sheriff, planning and zoning director, and state’s attorney.
Shangri-La currently operates a cultivation center in Brandon and plans to open its first dispensary on East Arrowhead Parkway, near the former Alibi bar.
The company aims for a spring opening and has applied to expand its cultivation center into a manufacturing facility, allowing the production of additional medical marijuana products.
Final approval from the county and a conditional use permit for the East Arrowhead Parkway site are necessary for the dispensary’s opening.
