Sioux Falls Man Accused of Threatening to Shoot Judge Remains in Jail

A Sioux Falls man accused of threatening to shoot a judge remains in the Minnehaha County Jail. Gregory Roberts appeared in court Thursday afternoon, where the prosecutor said he has a meth problem and has been going through veterans court.

On Wednesday, Roberts was booked into jail again after allegedly threatening to shoot the judge as an officer was locking up his gun. The prosecutor said Roberts also threatened to commit “mass murder” like we have never seen.

A public defender asked that Roberts be released on a PR bond, saying he has family in the area and needs to go to physical therapy. However, the judge said “words matter” and set Roberts’ bond at $10,000 cash only.

Roberts is scheduled to appear in court again on June 29.
