Sioux Falls Man Convicted and Sentenced to 12 Years for Carjacking Conspiracy with Firearm

Jose Uribe, a 26-year-old Sioux Falls man, was convicted of Conspiracy to Commit Carjacking and Use and Brandishing of a Firearm During a Crime of Violence.

The sentencing, which occurred on Nov. 30, resulted in a 12-year federal prison term for Uribe, along with three years of supervised release.

The charges stemmed from an incident in spring where Uribe, along with two others, carjacked an individual at gunpoint, later fleeing from law enforcement in the stolen vehicle.

Uribe had pleaded guilty on Sept. 11, 2023, and was also ordered to pay $200 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
