A 19-year-old Sioux Falls man is in the hospital after a dramatic incident with local police.
He had rammed two police cars while attempting to evade arrest in connection with two stolen cars.
During the standoff, he took a 1-year-old child from the backseat and placed the child on his lap.
After a lengthy negotiation, he released the baby and surrendered, but accidentally shot himself in the foot.
His name has not been released due to his hospitalization, and he is expected to face numerous charges, including aggravated assault.
Fortunately, the baby was unharmed and reunited with her mother.
