During a traffic stop in central Sioux Falls on Wednesday afternoon, police discovered a suspect who was wanted for separate cases.
The initial incident involved an assault in the 500 block of N. Weber Ave., where a victim reported minor injuries. The suspect was also being pursued for a previous case.
After receiving a description of the suspect’s car from the victim, officers located it near 14th and Phillips and followed it to a gas station at 24th and Minnesota.
The suspect was found hiding in the trunk, but he was unconscious and had to be taken to the hospital.
As of now, the suspect has not been formally arrested due to his hospitalization, but the police plan to arrest him once he is released.
Inside the car, a small amount of meth was found, but no arrests were made for drug possession, except for the driver on misdemeanor warrants.
The earlier case involving the suspect included charges of kidnapping and robbery, and authorities had reason to believe he might be armed, leading to a temporary shutdown of traffic on Minnesota Ave.
The identity of the suspect has not been released yet, pending formal charges.
