Sioux Falls Residents Sentenced to Decades in Prison for Major Meth Operation

Two Sioux Falls residents, Jesse Richmond and Tony Hunter, have been sentenced to over 20 years in federal prison for their roles in a methamphetamine distribution ring.

Richmond, 51, received a sentence of 24 years and four months for drug distribution and money laundering, while 53-year-old Hunter was sentenced to 27 years for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.

Between 2022 and 2023, the duo, along with others, distributed over 300 pounds of meth in Sioux Falls and beyond.

Other co-conspirators from Colorado and Minnesota received similar lengthy sentences.

U.S. Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell emphasized the seriousness of the offenses and the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in dismantling the operation.
