Sisseton Man Pleads Guilty to 1992 Cold Case Murder; Admits to Voluntary Manslaughter

57-year-old Jay Adams, Jr., from Sisseton, pleads guilty to voluntary manslaughter in a 1992 cold case from Roberts County.

Adams acknowledges using blunt force trauma in a crime characterized as premeditated and deliberate, committed in the heat of passion on September 4, 1992.

New evidence surfaced earlier this year, leading to Adams’ implication in the victim’s death.

The court documents do not disclose the victim’s name or indicate whether the death was reported at the time.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 3.
